How 'Bout Them CATS!!!

I don't know how many of you watched the ballgame on Saturday afternoon between UK and LSU, but, if you didn't, then you missed one heck of a game!

We were watching as UK scored first, but, then LSU started sort of taking over the game.  I get irritated, too, when they make boneheaded plays, but I had to sit back and laugh at my
husband, because he gets WAY too involved in the games.

While we were watching and getting on the refs for a few "questionable" calls, my husband was talking about the Cats defense, and getting mad because they made mistakes.  Finally, in frustration, he went outside to finish a project he had started before the game.

While he was outside, the Cats turned the corner, and scored.  And then, scored again.  My daughter and I jumped up screaming, and apparently, he heard us, because he came running over to the window and looked in.  Then he came around and came in the back door, and stood in the kitchen watching.  They let one of LSU's players get a first down on third and long,  and we told him to go back outside, because they were doing better when he wasn't watching.

He finished his project, and got back inside just in time for the second OT.  We told him he could watch, but he couldn't complain.  So, though it took all the restraint he could muster, he was relatively calm until Braxton Kelley stopped LSU's Scott in the third OT to win the game.  Then, we ALL were jumping around, and yelling; so much that we scared the dog, who we almost stepped on.

Anyway, it was truly a game to remember, and a great time to be a CAT fan!  I am already looking forward to the next game, and hoping that we can give the Florida Gators a little pay back.  We will see, but, In any case, we are already bowl eligible, and KY football is looking up.  After all, it;s not every day that you can say your team beat the # 1 team in the country!
GO CATS!!!!!

Ah.....Autumn
I think that autumn has finally arrived in Kentucky.  At least, for a little while.  I know that part of this is going to show up as a description, because I made a boo boo when I was trying to get here.  But that's ok.  We are all friends here.  So just bear with me, and I will try to do better next time.  Now back to the subject.

Autumn is  one of the most beautiful times of the year.  I love to watch as the trees start to turn from vivid green, to hillsides ablaze with color.  The breeze gets a little crisper, as if it is telling us of what is to come.  Pretty soon, the tress will finally shake off the remnanat of summer, and raise theri bare limbs to the sky as if inviting snow, and waiting for it to come down and coat the limbs for winter, to keep them warm until they again come to lofe in the spring.

Drive down any country lane, and you can see the squirrells scurrying around, gathering nuts and making their winter home as warm and cozy as they possibly can.  And the birds are beginning to make their way south to warmer places for the upcoming season.  Look at farmhouses, and you will see the firewood stacked up either right beside the house, or not far from it.  You see the lazy curl of smoke coming out the chimney, and you can just imagine the warmth inside the home, as the family gathers around the table for the evening meal.

Friday night football games, with fans hovering in the stands, wrapped up in blankets and sweatshirts, and ait just cold enough so that you can see the players' breath as they line up on the field.  Smelling the sound of burning leaves, and hearing childrens laughter as they run and jump in the piles only to scatter them out again.

And when I look around, and see all the splendor, I say a silent prayer of thanks to God, for painting such a beautiful picture for us to see.

Description:
This morning, I looked out at an autumn sky
And watched some birds toward southward fly
I wondered aloud, 'just where do they go.
To avoid the cold and the winter snow?'

The signs of autumn are all around
From the color of the sky to the leaves on the ground;
There's a different feeling in the air
It's now a lot cooler,; crisp and clear.

You see the leftovers of summer now gone
And long once again, for one last summer song,
Knowing that summer is a warm memory
AS you watch the leaves fall gently from the trees.

I think of Autumn as beautiful art
that we see with our eyes, and capture in our hearts;
It's knowing that nature is getting ready for bed
And looking for a blanket of snow for her head.

I just love the taste of fall
With festivals and pumpkins, fodder shocks and all;
So get out and enjoy the autumn season,
"Cause pretty soon, we'll all be freezin!
